London

I’ve developed a London routine – Get up, listen to my KCRW podcasts over breakfast (“The Business” and “The Treatment”), go to Apple Store on Regent Street for free internet, come back to the flat, eat lunch while listening to more podcasts, go to a museum or interesting part of town in the afternoon, then back to Apple in the afternoon for more emails and Skype. In the evenings Kyle and I have been sampling the best of London frozen dinners (quiche Lorraine! Sausages with mash!) and watching Big Brother. Last night we went out with our friend Ant, who took us to a Belgian place in Covent Garden. I had wild boar sausages and mash and Kyle had mussels. The waiters were dressed like Belgian monks. Tonight we’re meeting up with our LA friends Douglas and Bronwen, and tomorrow night we’re going out for our anniversary. Developing a routine has helped keep me sane. There’s a lot going on with the Shakespeare film and I’m trying to work in many different time zones. I find that going to a museum in the afternoon clears my head and puts the focus on inspiration, not frustration. Yesterday I went to the Modernism exhibit at the V&A Museum. I love looking at the influences through history. Like, Wes Anderson clearly got his costume inspirations for “The Life Aquatic” from Kurt Schmidt’s Bauhaus paintings. Who knew museums were ripe for rip offs?!

New York City

We made it to the Big Apple, and let me tell you, it's all about celebrity sightings. First, Marlee Matlin was on our flight (her: first class, us: coach). Then the entire Extreme Makeover Home Edition cast (minues the hot spiky haired guy) was at baggage claim. Then we say DJ Qualls (the skinny kid from "Hustle and Flow") going to the gates in Newark. Then at dinner we sat next to Kristin Johnson from "Third Rock from the Sun". And if that wasn't enough, I got a little lost in the West Village this morning trying to walk to Tribeca. I end up on a cute street and out of a brownstone comes Sarah Jessica Parker with a stroller, but no baby. My New York Experience is now complete.
